Frequently Asked Questions
More Information About The Maze
How Can We Help?
We have addressed the questions we most frequently receive from museum visitors and from those interested in adding a panel to The Maze of Honor®. If your question is not answered here, please contact us.
Why does the Maze of Honor® exist?
The History of Humanity in Granite exists so that distant descendants, perhaps far from planet Earth, may view our collective history with understanding and hopefully with affection. When dedicated space within the museum was filled, we realized that significant additional space was needed for people to record their personal history
The Maze of Honor® was added to the History of Humanity in Granite in 2018. The Maze provides an elegant and affordable means to preserve our memories. At present, it provides a modest (and, hopefully in the future, significant) source of revenue for the non-profit Museum.
How do I add to the Maze of Honor®?
Your place in history awaits! Simply create a panel and we will engrave your image and text into a 12” x 12” piece of black granite.
Can I order a copy of my panel?
Yes – and we hope you will! It is a momentous keepsake and makes a wonderful gift. You have the option to order duplicates during the checkout process, whether you create your own or choose a predesigned panel.
How much does it cost?
Panels are $1000 each. Each copy costs $1,089 including shipping within the USA. State taxes are applied at checkout.
How long do I have to cancel my order?
If your engraving has not started, we will refund 100% of your payment. The turnaround time on engraving is typically fast, so contact us as soon as you change your mind. If engraving has begun, you will not receive a refund.
How long will it take from order to installation of my panel?
The time between your order and the installation of your panel will vary depending on activity at the Museum and the weather. We usually install within four weeks of an order. In some rare cases, we have been able to engrave panels for visitors whilst they are on-site at the museum.
How much text may I write with my photo?
Whatever fits on the form provided. Of course, the less the better for the sake of legibility. You can also purchase additional panels as needed.
I made a spelling mistake, can it be corrected?
No mistakes can be corrected after engraving.
May I see a photo of my panel installed?
Your purchase includes an emailed photo of your installed panel. Kindly remember that our preferred medium is granite; we are not professional photographers.
How will future generations find me?
Your Order Number is also your Location Code in the Maze of Honor®. Keep it safe!
Here’s how to find your panel:
- First Digit: Number of your monument
- Second Digit: Number of your wall
- Third Digit: Letter denoting the geographic side of the wall
- Fourth Digit: Number of your column on the wall
- Fifth Digit: Number of your row in your column
Can’t find your panel? Let us know and we’ll be happy to help you.
How do I locate my panel within the Maze of Honor?
You may locate your panel from email by Maze of Honor staff as follows:
First digit is number of the Maze
Second digit is number of Segment
Third digit is which side of Segment
Fourth digit is COLUMN number
Fifth digit is ROW- there you are!
Can my panel be located by name?
Not likely. Only the name of the person who placed the order is associated with the Location Code. Many choose to use first names, maiden names, nicknames, etc. on their panels, or to give the panel as a gift. Should you need to search for your panel visually, the walk through the Maze is pleasant!
How is the Maze of Honor® protected?
The town of Felicity is Dedicated to Remembrance. Your addition to the Maze of Honor® is protected by its quality, as is the History of Humanity in Granite. We receive added protection through our proximity to the California Highway Patrol Officers located at Felicity.
